I think only 1 person applied to my job ad on craigslist today. Is there something I dont know?
Any other place to post free job ads like craigslist?
Does the fact that its nearing summer and students are taking finals have something to do with it?
You can't be serious? If you read through all these threads you will see that for every job posted there are 100 applicants. Are you sure your email or fax machine is working.
If your ad looks like spam you maybe in a losing battle on craigslist. If you are serious make your ad look like it. I know that many here on the forum have given up on Craigslist to find a job.

Does your job add provide people with name of the company, phone number, address? Does it sound too good to be true?
Be careful to make your add sound like spam. I have browsed CL for jobs and find so many spam looking adds that i stopped looking there.
We have trouble keep good software developers at my work. People get itchy, keep their ear to the ground and want to try something new or make a move for that additional 5% salary, etc.

I quit replying to craigslist job offers because most are not real jobs, just scams trying to get your information. And the real jobs posted there pay less then half what they should be paying.
Here's one posted today. A good finish carpenter that has to supply tools etc. will make $400 and day and $600 a day on weekends.
(Local builder needs true finish carpenters who can come in and trim homes on weekends. Nothing fancy just the basics; doors, base, closet shelves, trim etc... Must be drug free, have all your own tools and be able to work alone. I need three references in your corresponding email. This is a W2 position, will pay $300 a weekend to the guy who can trim out a house in a weekend.)

I have to agree, spend a few bucks to list on a real jobs site. We get close to 50 applicants for every opening just from our own website, over 100 if we use
one like CareerBuilders.
My company is looking to hire and frustrated at the worthless resumes we are receiving. I mean these people are certainly qualified for a job....just not the one we are offering. They don't have any of the key qualifications required of the job.
I'm not sure where our ad is posted though. I looked at craigslist and didn't see it, and i haven't seen it posted anywhere else. I wouldn't be surprised if some of the issue is how the ad was written or where it was posted.

Is this an unpaid internship type job?
If so, it's best to place the ad in the schools so that students know they will get school credits for it.
