Problem is, they will still casually ask "why".. and once you've used a vacation day during a random time in the week and have already used the same old recycled excuses like doctor's visits, it should be pretty obvious something's going on.
(Like I mentioned, I rarely used my vacation days in the past until I started getting interviews, having started a job search a few months ago.. search my other threads if you wanna know why; I'm not in the mood to repeat for the Nth time..)

Another thing that I might consider pulling is to take either monday or friday off for the interview hopefully disguising it as a 3 day trip somewhere.. this will mostly end up being monday as people generally will take it easy on fridays.
This is ridiculous. Have you ever looked for a better job? Did you cut the nose to spite the face in doing it?
Yes. I took two days off to travel for interviews, I kept my employer informed throughout the process, and two administrators gave me letters of recommendation. They wanted me to stay, and they held my job for me.
With the job change before that, the administration was not as friendly about it, but they still waited until I had an answer from the new employer before looking for someone else for my position. (They did keep pestering me, trying to pressure me into a commitment.)
Another job change: when I was in my early 20s I was still working at a restaurant when I began substitute teaching. Each morning I called the restaurant to tell them whether or not I was teaching that day, so they would know whether to expect me at 10:00 or at 3:00.

People who have no interests outside of work amaze me. Here are a few that I've come up with in the 30 seconds since I read this:
There's an auction I want to go to.
I have an old friend/family member coming to town.
I have plans this weekend and need to get my errands done, or
I need to run some errands and businesses that aren't open on Saturday.
There's a get-together of (insert hobbyist here) people that I don't want to miss.
I'm reading for the blind.
Or, you can pick an event that's going on the same day that won't interfere with your interview and say your going to that (better go in case they ask questions).
So it's perfectly fine to say "no" when they ask if they can contact your current employer?? Hm... I'd always thought that perhaps that could've 'signaled' to the hiring manager, "Maybe he's afraid I'll find out his boss thinks he's incompetent or had problems?" I mean, it's not like any of these apps actually bother to ASK (at least as I recall), "Why?" if you list, "No." I'm just afraid of screwing up all possible chances of getting an interview, and I am getting so impatient with my current job. And I'm sure my boss knows I hate my current job anyway. Why the f*ck would he care if I'm trying to get a new job elsewhere? What does he expect, me to just QUIT and screw myself financially before getting a guaranteed job elsewhere? After all, I've been there about a year now.

I heard of seeing on a application can we contact your last employer but never asking a candidate can we contact your current employer? That just sounds stupid

I've never seen it broken down by current vs past, it just has an employment history section where they ask you to list all your jobs starting with the most recent, and for each job there is a box to check if it's okay to contact that employer.

I just don't know who would be so foolish to say-"yes you can contact my current employer"
That's always been my concern because it would start to look obvious after 2 or 3 interviews. that's why I honestly believe that the only way to get a job while you are employed is from a connection and you wouldn't need to miss time from work.
sometimes I think you be trolling your posts, they are just so far out of mind.
then I read your thread on how you thought you were going to get fired because you called in sick from work and then your employer later called you and left you voicemail to call him back.
Haha, you think your employer has any loyalty to you??? I've done it, and if they found out I couldn't care less. We all have the right to seek the best reward for our labor. Any boss that doesn't understand that has another thing coming if I'm going to work for them. You want a good worker, than don't give me a reason to look elsewhere.
