Has anyone quit a job after only 1 or 2 weeks to accept a better job offer?

I just started a new job that's not my ideal job but it pays the bills. I recently received a job offer for a position that is exactly what I was originally looking for. Neither job is in the same industry.

Any advice? To make the situation even worse, both company's are in the same building. It's a large building with many businesses in it but it could be awkward running into my current co-workers if I do end up quitting.

You gotta do what makes you happy. If it is the field you want to be in, should go for it if presents a good future.

Are they both secure, stable positions? If so go to the one that makes you happy.

The second job that I was just offered is the more secure one.

Why is it a better offer?

I had a guy quit after his first day to take a much higher paying job. No one ever held it against him.

For me, it's a better offer because it's in the industry I would like to be in and seems to have more long term potential.

I also don't know whether or not to tell the 2nd employer that I just started a new position. When I first interviewed with the 2nd employer I was in my old position and hadn't started this new job yet. (If that makes any sense)

employment at will means just that, no loyalty. if biz picks up i predict employers will change their mind about employment at will.

Sometimes it just works out that way, you have to do what is best for you.

Look at it this way your current company will hire most likely one of the runner ups, so maybe someone who is out of work will get your current job when you move on.
