......or didn't like my accent, the administrator really wants to hire me....I applied for another position initially but she offered me a higher position to work with her....now HR is giving me a hard time, but I had a feeling that she didn't like me when I had an interview with her...actually she didn't interview me because the administrator told her that they want me, she just went over with the benefits....I have just found another supervisory reference through LinkedIn and I sent HR the link of my ex manager from another previous job.....note that she is only a Recruitment Specialist. Also, she might think I will give up on this.....

I agree with this. Years ago I had a problem with an HR guy.

I worked at major university that had a 2 yr salary freeze(to avoid layoffs). He didn't believe me.

He also wanted to talk to my current boss(no way).

Other issues followed, so out of frustration I informed the woman who would have been my boss. She was livid.

It sounds like you have a power hungry HR moron who needs to be put in check.

In the meantime you mention indirectly supervised you as well, can you find one nurse and explain the situation to them and ask them to stretch the truth a little bit?

Good. The other thing you might want to mention is why wasn't this communicated to you earlier by this HR woman?

Why did she have to surprise with this? She should have explained to you that she would need to speak to two past supervisors and not just get job verification.

So I sent an e-mail to the Administrator but I haven't replied to the HR person about getting the phone number for my ex boss on LinkedIn since (she) the HR person has an account an LinkedIn to contact him. Should I reply to HR person or just wait from Administrator's reply? And if I should reply to HR what to say? I can't believe that she has an account on LinkedIn and I forwarded the link where she can contact my ex boss and she is still asking me if I can find out his phone number....this is frustrating

You should get the phone number. Don't push it with HR, not now, not ever. They have too much power. Just bite your tongue and bend over backwards to assist her and be very nice. You got too far to lose this job over something minor because you pushed the buttons of HR.

You want the tel# of your former boss for your files anyway. You never know if you will need it again in a rush.

Besides, YOU should always touch based quickly with any reference to give them advanced notice that someone is going to contact them soon for a reference. Just so they know it is coming and not to ignore the VM, etc.

Since you most likely won't hear from the Adminstrator until tomorrow I would go ahead and play her little game.

I would also call your former boss now and leave a V/M telling him the situation and they insist on a full reference from two of your former supervisors, that you have one, but need him to be the 2nd reference.

Then just send her a quick email with his name and phone number, and say nothing else.

This way you're still following her instructions, when you speak to the adminstrator you have done everything you could possibly do, despite the fact on how poorly it was handled by this woman.
