That's nature though. You can't fight nature.

Heck no. Outsourcing creates long-term jobs and employable people. The firms the jobs get outsourced have a vested interest in keeping their employees well-trained.... Unlike keeping everything in-house in a fortune 500 that leads to deadwood. It would be impossible for us (including you) to survive without outsourcing.

1 in 7 US manufacturing jobs, pythonis, is dependent on exporting. One cannot build an economy selling only to oneself, anymore than a family raises income, by having the wife cook stuff she sells to her husband.

We could probably do it without outsourcing offshore... but we can't go on without outsourcing overall. When your furnace breaks, do you replace it yourself or do you outsource it to an HVAC installer? There's no way that we as individuals, or even entire organizations can do everything themselves. That's a massive overhead in terms of training. The only practical way is to outsource.

pythonis, So what? Jobs were outsourced to the regions that could make the product in the most cost effective way. If we want a larger share of those jobs, we need to "up our game". Not build artificial barriers.

Wrong, bobtn. Everyone has had to look for work at some point, and the key is to have education, training, marketable up-to-date skills, and most importantly, a solid work ethic.

You don't get ahead by whining about opportunity not finding you. You need to find it.

Thats not outsourcing. Outsourcing is when the place you work at decides it can save a bunch of money in taxes or whatever else by packing up and going to some other country and telling you "Oh im sure youll find another job one of these days". Big difference between that and hiring someone to fix your furnace.
