I live in the DFW area and am trying to get a job with no luck. I do have a college degree and am trying just about everything. Someone suggested that I look in other areas of the state - so I am looking into Austin as well as other states that I would like to live in. I figure it cant hurt!

My question is : Do recruiters automatically throw out your resume/application when they see a different city? what about state?

Thanks!!

My suggestion would be that you put - in your cover letter, or at least in the objective statement at the top of your resume (cover letter is better) - that you are willing and able to relocate for the right job.

Recruiters and placement professionals shouldn't be thrown by your out of city or state address but addressing it on the front end would be helpful, in my opinion. I worked for 7 years in professional placement and another 5 years in HR, by the way.
