1) Do I need a unique resume for every type of job that I apply for?

2) How can I highlight the skills or qualities that a specific job may be searching for, from the one job that I've had?

3)How do I know what they are looking for?

If the jobs/job fields are drastically different, then yes, maybe. However, if it's the same field, but different companies, no - the resume can be the same, but you'll change a few minor things on it for each. For ex., if you have an objective (and I've read that those aren't req'd anymore), you'd want to change it and make it specific to each position you apply for.

If you're going into a different field and want to make the needed skills prominent on the resume, you could reformat the resume (depending on what it now looks like). You could also just put them in a different order, or delete what won't be important and add what will be, etc.

Ha ha! NOBODY knows what "they" are looking for! Not even THEM!

Like say, I've only had one job, and it's a job in retail. If I were to make a resume to a security job and another retail job, would I have to mention different bullet points on the job, depending on the resume im writing it for?

EX. (Retail Resume)

Sales associate/ Shoe store company
*providing customers with extra selections
*providing every customer with the same exellent service.

(Security company)

Sales associate/ Shoe store company
*watched suspicious customers closely to make sure they do not shoelift
*communicated suspicious action in other aisles to other co-workers/managers

Something like that??
