I sappose its to Parade you through the staff to decide what they wish to decide on "Perceived Preceptions" of the ineractions and perceived competence. Another way to be picky about rejecting someone for a job, maybe just something for him to do.
Sounds like someone fails at interviews. Surprise, surprise...
Except the "taking note" part, I think it went pretty impressive, I asked a lot of questions and my interviewer was really happy in answering them. Still waiting.. fingers crossed and praying*. Anyone who went through the process ,please share expereinces ..

The good thing is..............by the time they decided to have you shadow they are already heavily leaning towards offering you the job. That's a lot of time commitment on their part too, because you are a distraction to the person you are shadowing. So it you did good I think you are going to get it. Wait for them to respond and offer unless it's been more than a week then you can inquire.
I'm 62 now and retired. But I can tell you that there have always been "job shadows" done in one specific industry - the temp agency industry (grin). A lot of smaller companies use temp agencies to send them people whom they watch carefully. If the temp assignment proves them incompetent or otherwise unsuitable, it's a simple matter of ending the assignment without anyone's feathers being ruffled. But during one period of unemployment, and knowing this, I made it a POINT to seek out jobs with a temp agency. And twice during that period, I was offered full time jobs with the companies (one of which I took).
Being retired, that's one thing I don't have to worry about anymore. But if I was younger and found myself unemployed, the temp agencies would be my first stop. In essence, you're being "paid" to "try out" for jobs.
If you already have a job, it's another day off that's needed for interiews. Add this to time off taken for interiews that already took place before the 'job shadow'. My gosh, you could take your entire year's allotment of vacation time just for job searching.
This is why I prefer to job search after leaving the prior job. Just too much time off needed for checking out new jobs.

On the flip side - much better to thoroughly check out a new job, before leaving your current one!
Thank you all for the inputs. YAZ, EzPeterson can you be more specific about what all things the employer will be looking in you when you come for a shadow interview especially when it take place in 2 or 3rd step of the whole interview process ?
Attitude.
A lot of the guys were lacking in the technical side of things, but that can be fixed.
One guy had to leave early to go to his night shift job. He spent 6 hours with me and then off to work he went. Impressed the hell out of me.

If YOU think it went well, then it did.
Good luck.....
