I am a Sales Director with 15 years of experience, looking to make the leap to a VP position. I am being courted by head hunters which is a good thing (since they only get paid to place me, and in NYC are recruiting for jobs that pay $120-$200+). I was already wondering whether I should use a professional for the first time, then today I received an email from a head hunter who bluntly said, your history is amazing but your resume isn't... hire a professional. I am not quite selling myself as the senior person I am, which is why I think I have stalled at the Director level for 5 years.
Has anyone here used a professional service? How much did it cost? Were you happy with the results?
Depends who you you hired to do your resume. My wife is tired of her new management and looking into state jobs. She had no luck with her old resume. It was too dated. LOL, we found a few local resume writers in town, online, and even on ebay. She hired two people to do her resume. One did a great job, the other suck. She paid about $25 per resume. The one that did a good job on my wife's resume; we are already seeing results in getting call backs for job interviews.
You might want to find a resume writer who specializes in what you are looking for. Don't hesitate to ask them if they have the type of experience you required. I would not want someone who writes resumes for office assistants to be writing a resume for me if I am applying for a VP position. I can tell you that you will be paying way more than $25 as well. LOL.

Yes, agreed. I need a professional, hoping to find one ASAP. The budget I have in mind is $500, but I have no idea whether that is low or high.
