Hi Everyone! I'm revving up my job search and may possibly have an interview very soon. I am originally from up North but currently live in Florida, female and have a black suit that I usually wear which is a skirt, white shirt and a jacket. I have worn this suit for interviews here in Florida, but it is way too hot! Luckily my interviews have been in well climate controlled offices, except for one, where I was so hot I couldn't concentrate. That was my last one and I've decided I can't wear the suit anymore. I have a dress that I wore to my brother's wedding - the bottom is black and the top is teal and it is sleeveless. The bottom hits just above the knee. I would like to use it for interviews, but I'm afraid sleeveless is possibly inappropriate? It is a very professional looking dress, but I'm just not sure. I know I can't wear the suit again (especially that we will be in the 90s later this week).

It looks almost exactly like this except the top is teal.
Calvin Klein Dress, Sleeveless Belted Colorblock Sheath - Dresses - Women - Macy's

This is what I do in the summer months here, which are sweltering.

I wear a nice blouse with a skirt and carry my jacket on a hanger while in the car. I don't put on the jacket until I get into the building. Soon as the interview is over, I shed the jacket. Also you can wear a short-sleeved or sleeveless blouse for more air.

Inappropriate. Wear a lighter weight suit and don't put the jacket on until you are walking into the building.

Agree with Miss C. above, wear a shell or tank under the suit.

No, this would not be appropriate for an interview. Listen to Miss Crabcakes for a perfect solution.

Its a nice dress. But I'd throw a jacket or blazer over it to suit it up.

OK, thanks, I figured. I don't know if a jacket over this dress would work...I'll think of something.

What position are you interviewing for? If it is a professional or semi-professional position, you should wear a jacket. If the place of employment is too hot for a jacket, then that is a sign that they're an employer you don't want to work for.

Just be thankful you're not a man. Many of us (luckily, not myself, since my office has a casual dress code, which is not the norm in my field) are forced to wear a heavy suit (far heavier than what you are complaining about wearing) every day to work, even when it's 100 degrees outside.

Very few companies in Florida require business attire. Even in major corporations it's mostly business casual.
