Here we go again with the recruiters today.
I just wasted my time talking to this agency and they told me they had jobs etc.
He called back and asked that my 7 month cap on my resume does not look good and that he would like 3 references.

I said NO that I don't feel comfortable giving out references ahead of time.
He said there is nothing he can do for me....
I said fine thank you and I hung up.... :/
Was I wrong by doing this ?

You were prudent. Staffing agencies are notorious for soliciting your references and bothering them when they have no jobs on the table.

I just don't want to give my references out ahead of time, what's the point ?
Yes, when an agency sents me to an interview and things look good and the employer ask for references... then YES.

I also went on their jobsite - there are no jobs, and the jobs that are listed are over 30 days old.

I feel a bit bad slamming up the phone, but I refuse to listen to ... you have a work history gap - my work history is solid the only gap I have is the gap since Christmas cause I am having a hard time finding a job.

OMG I am furious today...

If youre looking for a job, chances are your leaving an open position. Thats a bull-eye for them. They'll try to get as much info so when they talk to your boss or whoever they'd sound like they know what theyre talking about.
Personally, I've seen line from someone's resume on the job posting... and job postings text pasted on someone's resume.

They use 'references' to start working on THEM, enticing them with some made up openings, then getting their resumes. Some just want to start networking with the bosses you might have in your references

My G.

Well, I am currently unemployed and looking for a job.
So I do try to talk to everyone, including agencies.
But that dude today made me feel really bad saying I have big gap - 7 months is not a big gap.....
and then had the nerv asking for references.
