It just seems like in the last few weeks things have slowed down?

Just not get interviews when before I was on fire.

Large number of vacations right around this time. I have a couple open spots to fill and coordinating everything to set up interviews between my vacation, the manager's vacation, evil HR lady's fifteen vacation, etc. makes it kind of a challenge. Once July 4th hits, it usually smooths back out.

Don't fret - the jobs are still out there, it just takes everyone a bit to get their act together!

Thanks I am just trying to gauge waiting around or dipping into savings to take a small, inexpensive vacation. Last year I waited around, prospective employer jerked me around for a month, and no job and no vacation.

I'm currently in the process for interviewing for a position and boooooy has it been slow. Even with working with a search recruiting firm, who, I would assume given it seems the hiring manager is really interested in me, would be pushing to speed it up.

My in person interview is next Thurs, but I've been in talks with them for almost a month now. hopefully they'll speed things up after I meet with them since they are hiring several for the position I'm interviewing for.

Not only do people start taking vacation, but there are also budget reasons for this. many companies on a July--June 30th budget cycle are waiting for their new positions to be funded, so there can be an uptick in hiring in mid-July.

Hemlock makes a good point about the June 30th fiscal quarter. Hiring always seems slow in the last 2-3 weeks of a quarter,(December, March, June, September). After July 4th, they will have a better idea on their budgets and how many positions can be opened.

Yes that seems to be true.

From June of 2012 to August of 2012 I had 0 interviews

The month of September I had 3

The month of October I had 2

So the summer seems to be a slow period for job hunting
