Is this one school district you're interviewing with? You said small town, normally you interview with the district and than if there are openings meet with the principal.

Are you looking at other school districts in other towns?

Exactly, getting a phone call usually means you got the job. How disappointing and difficult to get bad news on the phone. It can be an awkward conversation.

Better to get it in the mail on in an email.
