Craigslist responses also go to the junk box on many providers unless you've routed emails to go to the inbox. Last office I worked in, maybe every 1 out of 50 employees knew the mail/spam rules even existed let alone how to use it. Most assumed everything in the junk box, even if it was from the boss about a meeting, was junk if it was sent to the junk folder.

Was in the process of departing my previous place of employment since it was not permanent position, and a very kind/compassionate colleague offered to get in touch with some of their professional contacts to see if they knew anyone who had an opening and was hiring. With the help of the colleague's recommendation, I was able to receive several concrete job leads, one of which I was offered to interview for, and was hired the same day Have been here ever since. The manager who interviewed me became my immediate supervisor once I was hired, and to this day they still remain the very best and and most fair manager that I've ever worked for...I still keep in touch with them from time to time and whenever possible, as they still matter a great deal to me in a personal basis, and I consider them to be a genunie friend and someone that I truly care about.

I clicked on a CL add which took me to Monster and gave me instructions on how to apply.

Honest truth?
Nepotism and cronyism was how I started in employment.

I chose other because when I applied for this job, I had already worked for the company in the past and was well known and liked, and was able to dive right back in without skipping a beat

For my last job I started the application process online but hadn't had a chance to submit it before I was contacted by email to come in for an interview. For my previous self-employed gig, I called the regional director and asked if they were in need of someone with my skill set, which they were so she walked me through the entire vetting process as an independent contractor. For The job of my dreams, working overseas, I submitted my application online for five years in a row before I got an offer...ended up meeting my husband, getting two dogs, and having two kids from that opportunity, so it was worth the wait

For my very first job - as cashier at a grocery store, my father got me a referral to a manager who worked there, and I got the job after filling out a paper application.

For the other two jobs I later got in life - salesperson at an electronics retailer, accounts receivable analyst at a medium-sized online retailer - I simply applied online and was contacted for an interview.

Networking doesn't always work - for professional jobs with big huge companies with established hiring policies, it's important that the person you are working with refers you to an internal corporate recruiter, depending on things get done at the company.
