No!!! You're kidding me. They went through ALL THAT EFFORT... and then... nothing?!

I'm so sorry. It definitely means something even better is coming, but I know that doesn't fix the crappy feeling right now. Keep your head up. It'll all work out and make sense eventually!

Thanks everyone. I am going to discuss another position open at the same company, but maybe I'm just not a good fit for the company, who knows. Oh well. Guess I'll be moving without a job. LOL. Oh well.

Yup. All that and nothing. I'm going to talk to HR another day and find out why and what I can learn from it. Hopefully she'll be open to discussing it. Trust me, I'm bummed.
As for the other job, I haven't heard anything yet. I may call tomorrow to see if they did in fact make a choice or what.

However, on the upside, since I'm moving in 4 days, I won't have to do anymore travelling for interviews. Which also means I will start applying for a lot more jobs.

Wow. Crazy that they would put you through all that and reject you. After that, you definitely deserve feedback. Definitely beats out any of my recent 'Close, but not quite' situations. Best of luck!

Well, I talked to HR. They felt that the person who got the job had a bit more higher level experienced than me and they felt they were slightly more politically savvy. She said it was really very close, otherwise they would not have flown me up. So, good to know.

We discussed the other job HR had brought up. We both agreed it's really not a good match. Although at least we both agreed I could do the job (that's a plus), it required 5-7% travel and I can't travel that much.

She said there is another job coming up that she feels will be more well-suited for me and she'll email me when it becomes available. At least HR still likes me a lot.

I thought backpacks counted as a personal item rather than a carry on.

Edit: oh already addressed lol. Sorry you didn't get the job but it's definitely good that HR still likes you. It could benefit you in the future.

As an FYI. You can have 1 carry-on and 1 personal item. Doesn't matter if the personal item is a purse, backpack, laptop bag, etc. I think at the time, I was thinking a garment bag, backpack, and then realized I needed a purse. So that'd make 3 items. But yes, it all worked out.

Well. Looks like I'm really not wanted. Talk about a blow to my ego. The job opening has been relisted....for the second time (guess the other person didn't work out, so I can laugh a bit, right?). If they wanted me, I know they'd contact me. I'm definitely not going to embarrass myself by contacting them. Bummer though. Oh well.

Wow, that really stinks! I'm so sorry! That's always a bit of an ego blow. I hope something better comes your way soon!

If it were me, I'd stuff the ego back down in the cellar and call them to say you are still interested/available.
