If you are interviewed by a panel, (4 people), and are told you'll know something within 30 days, what exactly is the interviewer telling you? good, bad, or indifferent?

they are telling you that they're expecting to make a decision within 30 days.

I don't quite see that as the same as "We're interviewing other people", but some might.

I also wonder if some interviewers don't say "we're interviewing other people" because some people really do have a hard time grasping that they are not the only qualified candidate sometimes. The hiring process is not like having a yard sale, where the first person who expresses interest gets the job.

I will let you know either way is another bad sign to me

I've received offers after being told this.

Also, for the folks who are interviewed by a panel, it generally takes longer for them to finish interviews and reach a decision. Mainly for logistical reasons.
