So I'm guessing that you Google their name, their name plus the city they live in, their email address, and try to figure out which social media accounts are linked to their email address?

I search for their name on the first 2-3 pages of google (mostly just checking titles of sites unless something jumps out at me), twitter, linkedin and facebook. I always find it a little weird when someone's email address is NOT their name, so I try to find out what it means. It always surprises me that people don't just use an email address that is their name, initials, etc., so as a result I try to find out what it means, mostly out of curiosity. If I were you, I would just stop using that username in your email address just to be safe.

LOL! It was the reunion crew that told me about the soft porn B movie star with my name, too. Considering my high school degree was in sex drugs and rock 'n roll, most were surprised to find out it WASN'T me in that movie.

Now that I'm over the hill and over weight, I sorta wish I had been the one in the movie. . .

So what do you do, when someone that has the same name as you, is reported doing something that's not right, but they have no picture or email address, as in let's say someone slandered them in a FB post...what do you do then?

Those of you who Google, what if your person has the last name Smith, for example? How would you Google a John Smith in the LA area? Do you think it is fair that I could be the worst person alive named John Smith and you couldn't really determine my presence online but if my name was John Scoubayoutha you could? What do you do if someone goes out of their way to write negative things about you online or if someone pretends to someone online? How do you trust what you read online?

Just curious, because I was thinking about this news piece I watched once where people were talking about things that they had found written online about them that weren't true and how impossible it was to get rid of that information.

How would they connect your CD name to your real name are they close? If not why worry am I missing something here?

My fist name starts with D, CD name starts with Colorado so how to connect? I know there are IT programs like maltego, but that requires skill not google search.

Here's what I'm trying to ask in the original post. Say my name is Bobby Davis and my email address is Bobby829@gmail.com. Although the name Bobby Davis yields a clean Google search, as does anything else related to my name, such as "Bobby Davis Portland Oregon" or "Bobby David carpenter," the handle Bobby829 is one I've used to post jokingly and inappropriately on some message boards. You'll find some of these inappropriate posts if you Google "Bobby829." Should I be worried? Or am I good as long as my actual name checks out clean?
It depends on a number of factors, but if the name and social media site searches yield vanilla - I scrap it there.
