I am sure this a question we all had at some point. We all worked a job where we had multiple managers but none that was our direct supervisor. My question is what do you do in this case? I try to do the best job with this and mention someone who was a manger.

Mention the one that will give you the best reference. They don't have to know that you had multiple managers.

Whoever was responsible for writing your performance review is your direct manager.
If you've had multiple direct managers then put down the one that will give you the best reference.

Just name your immediate supervisor.

The truth is, none of them will be contacted as most places do not allow anyone other than HR to say anything other than your dates of employment, job title, and starting and ending salary.
