That is a lot of work and running around- sound like this company want to start you off on a salary of ZERO...who knows - they might give you a raise of you bring them 100 more references.

They claim they really value feedback and would like to get a 360 understanding of candidates.

So, would you pass?

I am currently employed. But my company is going through laid-offs. So, I don't feel safe in my job. So, it's not necessarily a job that I think I'm in love with, but should I pass?

Part of me feel like I should do whatever to get a job. There is a part of me that's screaming red flag on the request. I'm confused...

Wow, I would have trouble with that because I've only had 3 jobs my entire life and I'm 52 years old. There is no way I could give that many references. I also haven't worked outside of our home for about 10 years now but I am afraid I would have laughed out loud when they told me that. I'm pretty sure that would have got my resume tossed into the shredder immediately...LOL

It's by and large a no-name company, so to the extent of how it'd help my career really depends on if these possibly uber exciting things will happen....

Something is not right here. Could it be they're going to try and sell something to these references?

Because you saying they're selling products, it sounds like they may try and do a sales pitch to your references.

As one poster said the norm is 3 references, and after they reach 2 of them they don't even call the the last one.

Even people who have been working 30yrs don't have 20 references.

They are nuts, sounds like some kind of mass marketing thing to me too.

I don't have the names and contact information of twenty people that know me enough to form an honest opinion.

not sure it's marketing. they specifically say they'd like cell phone numbers - telemarketing is very old...

It's not Amway. It's not a direct sale product. It's product they sell to grocery stores on a mass basis to sell to you or me

Sorry, but this is totally a scam. It sounds like they are using the opportunity of a "job" to get hold of valid phone numbers to sell for solicitation purposes. You are being used.
