I'm not a big fan of Careerbuilder, at least not for IT jobs. I think a lot of recruiters use it to fish for resumes. Never had any success there. It may be better for other types of jobs, though.
For IT jobs, I agree Indeed is the best. Dice probably number two. Monster not so great.
As far as outdated postings, they exist on all of the above.

Not to be querulous but many such "best of" sites (and I'm not saying that this is one of them) rely on advertising revenue and I don't think one should automatically accept their ranking at face value. What it really boils down to is what works for you personally. Some people swear by LinkedIn, for instance, but they tick me off no end by continually sending me offers to join their ranks and I'm neither in the market for their services nor a member. Their stuff always ends up in my suspect email folder but they're about to be blocked period as their unsolicited invitations are becoming a nuisance!

The list generated by the link I referenced was based on web traffic and unique visitors.
"Most popular" doesn't denote that it's "the best". It just means most people know about it.

Ah, good point. I saw a little blurb about how they collected data but it seemed "fluffy" at best. Guess it doesn't really make any difference since their statistics are based on popularity and not product. Even more reason not to single them out for special mention as I mentioned in my post.
Careerbuilder used to be a good site, last time I looked in my area it seems to have turned into a mix of national posts for MLM type companies, headhunters looking to build their database, and retail jobs, with little or no real jobs being posted.
amazing. Careerbuilder has been a resource for quite some time. It amazes me that this would be in question. I would bet that if someone were to bring this up with others that are looking for employment those individuals may have more than likely visited the site allready and have probably used it for some time.
