Comcast is the 4th worst company in America. Everyone hates Comcast so they might hold it over you down the road.
When Comcast rolled out in Denver, at first, they were awesome. Now about the same as any other telco. People that made 50k base, for sales, plus signing bonus now get 36k no bonus. Their contractors don't have nice things to say at all and now most of their call centers are just as bad as Dell. They are slowing get rid of outside sales force and turning into smile and dial for sales.
OP even if it wasn't Apple I would do. Silicon Valley is where it is at, not Philly. I am planning to leave Denver for SV because there are so many more high tech sales jobs there and the pay keeps up with the COL.
Honestly, as someone who's currently living in the Silicon Valley, I'd say that you may want to consider the Philly offer. The Silicon Valley is typically the type of place where you work when you are young and ambitious and then look to move elsewhere. In fact, if you're really young, you probably are going to want to live in SF and commute down to the valley every day (terrible commute, even with company shuttles).
There are nice areas of the Silicon Valley, but they're getting more and more out of reach in terms of affordability. Do you think $115k will get you anywhere close to one of these areas? Try again. If you want to settle down in a nice part of the Silicon Valley and raise a family, try $500k of annual income or more. Or, you can commute every day from the East Bay, but that commute is awful as well.
To top it off, it has all the expense but lacks the culture. You don't have the cool urban vibe. You have to go to the city for that. You don't have the laid back benefits of the suburbs. It is a stressful work culture, with everyone just trying to get ahead, or at least stay above water. People work like crazy and are more job focused and less focused on developing new social connections. People who have owned here for a while are doing very well, but if you're just starting out, it is nearly impossible to get ahead, unless you have the fortune to strike gold (e.g., IPO).
I'm not saying that Philly is the best area either, but there are less financial stresses. I can tell you that. Now, would I work for Apple for a couple years? Probably. But, you're likely going to want to relocate after this and frankly, while Apple is still a great company, I personally think its lost its mojo and you're not going to ride the stock to riches anymore.
In the long term Philly will have less people living there that are qualified for good IT positions. But the Apple name will look strong on your resume. Depending on the position of course.
