I have the same question I applied to Burlington coat factory and I applied on march 11 2016 and I got a call on Saturday march 12 to schedule an interview, when I called I was guessing she was busy so she told me to call Monday march 14 to schedule an interview once I did that my interview was In Wednesday march 16, 2016 and during the interview while we were talking I was hired prior to a background check she sent it to me while we were in our interview and then when I got home I completed the same day so do you know when she should get it and be calling me in for orientation?

Don't overestimate the competence of the people completing the background screen. I had to rescreen for a job I already have and it managed to take almost 4 months because the HR person in charge didn't do what she was supposed to do. This was a basic screening, too, not anything like a federal background screen that required any sort of inquiry into contacts.

Depending on what type of screening they do, it can take up to around 5 weeks for a name scan with the FBI, by the way. At least that's been my experience, and I don't have a common name. If you have a more common name that people with criminal histories have, it can take longer.
