After months of sending out resumes for a variety of jobs I have been called by two different companies for job interviews AND TESTING. (My field is Operations).
Have you been FORMALLY tested as a job applicant as part of the interview process? If so, what was the test and do you think it was fair and really helpful in selecting the best candidate for employment?
Oddly no. I've been through entire interviews where I wasn't even asked about anything technical and instead bombarded by HR psychobabble and cliched BS interview questions. On some I was given technical questions and scenarios.
I have an upcoming interview with a casino corporation where I will have to take an assessment test that will test logic and personality. I will also have an interview with a research company where I will need to give a 30 minute presentation followed by a 30 minute question and answer session. When I was last interviewing almost 5 years, I was up for a position at DC public schools where I was given some questions and data sets and had to demonstrate my ability to conduct analysis based on what I given.
