The ones that really tick me off. Charter Communications did this to me once.. Had me come in for an interview at 5am.. Yes... I typed that right.. 5am

The application, they asked for a salary requirement.. Which I put in at a modestly lower level than I was currently making.. Shifts I was willing to work, which I put in (No 3rd shift).. Asked if you were currently employed.. I was

They made me wait for about 45 minutes.. Bring me in for an interview in front of 6 people.. Without having told me that.. Which is another pet-peeve.. If you're going to do a freaking roundtable interview.. Let the interviewee know that going in. An interview is generally stressful enough without being surprised by a freaking trial-by-jury..

And, after about an hour being interviewed by all these people who obviously took the Hiring Manual that documented the questions they were required to ask and all ripped a page out with the questions they were going to ask.. Basically said.. "Ok, now.. We noticed on your application (online application) that you said you wouldn't work 3rd shift, and that you require this much money.. This position pays $10k a year less than that and is third shift"

Now THAT is a waste of everyone's time and was rude as hell, IMO. The funny thing is.. I told them no, I wouldn't do it.. THEY CALLED AND OFFERED ME THE JOB. Six effing interviewers and none of the coconut headed MFers thought "Gee, probably not a good match here"

Unfortunately, this kind of nonsense is pretty common in today's job market.

I will never forget the time that the hiring manager excused himself in the middle of our interview......to have a smoke break.
