I'm currently a 3rd year civil engineering undergraduate on an F-1 visa, trying desperately to look for an internship in the construction industry.
Since years ago, I've immersed myself in this industry and enjoyed it a lot. As such, I hope to find an internship in this industry to gain more experience and explore the possibility of migrating to USA after graduation.
What I do not understand is the difficulty I'm facing in my hunt for a summer internship in this field. These are the criteria I possessed:
1) I do not require work visa sponsorship for summer internship (F-1 visa allows me to intern)
2) I do not have any specific location request (I can relocate to anywhere in USA for the internship, without needing to pay me)
3) I do not required to be paid (After so many failed attempts, I am even open to unpaid internships)
4) I represented college in ASC construction competition
5) I have 1+ years of past job experience in related industry in my home country.
With my above that I possessed, I am still finding it impossible to get any internship. Out of 100+ applications I've signed up, I was interviewed unsuccessfully 4 times.
Any of you got any recommendations for me? I am seriously getting desperate right now....
