I've been interviewing for the next step in my career - upper director/executive level for Fortune 500 companies. There's this one company I'm hopeful for but it's taking too long and HR is odd
Monday - final interview, all goes well, day ends by HR saying we need to talk about location to be based out of, she gave me options and said think about and we'll catch up tmr (Tues) or Wednesday
Tuesday - didn't hear anything
Wednesday - didn't hear anything despite HR saying let's talk on Wednesday. I reached out to her late afternoon saying I've made up my decision and we should chat. She replied in the evening saying let's chat tmr Thursday
Thursday - talked in the morning, she gave verbal offer, said she will talk to a EVP in afternoon to talk about my salary. she she will give written offer by EOD today and if not then EOD tmr (Friday)
Friday - no written offer
So my concern is she SAID verbally she will get me written offer by EOD Friday by the latest. It's now the weekend and I have nothing. Should I be worried? I really want the job but don't want to seem desperate. I was thinking of waiting until Monday afternoon to reach out again? My lack of patience says I want to email her right now though so she sees it first thing Monday when she gets in...so I'm not sure when to reach out either to check in and how often to either
There are all kinds of things going on with HR and EVPs in a F500 company that can bump your official offer down the priority list. I wouldn't worry to the point that there is nothing that you can really do to positively affect your situation. You don't mention an anticipated start date; depending on how far out that is, you may have reason to check on the process so that you can give proper notice. If you have no start date yet, there is probably no rush on their end.

That's the worst part...knowing I can do nothing about it (especially over the weekend)
Start date is in 3 weeks
You were offered the job but now just waiting for confirmation in writing. The one thing you do know is you have the job but now just need the letter to make it official

Just email in a few days, no biggie
I don't think you understand my concern. My concern is since they are taking so long, it obviously shows this is not a priority to them. I mean seriously how long does it take to get it in writing? 15min? The problem is they could change their mind and decide not to give me an offer anymore without having it in writing...

email the person on Wednesday evening if you don't anything by then. Why you are concerned? Did you exhaust your UC benefits?

You understand that there's formal approval process, especially in a F500 company, right?
It's not just printing out a Word doc. There's an approval sequence that HR has no control over.

I understand but 2 things
1. I'm not interviewing for a normal mid-level job, I'm going in pretty high up the chain. Everyone I interviewed with are EVP/SVP level, there really isn't that many more levels of approval needed (at least not in my opinion)
2. HR specifically said EOD Friday. If she said like "I'll get it to you ASAP I just need to check on a few things" okay that's understandable I'll wait a bit longer but that's not what she said
You should do a follow-up on Monday afternoon. Not in the morning, as you know how Monday mornings are.
