It depends on how many steps that particular employer has and how many candiadtes are in each step. Phone interviews or first interviews cull the heard, but some employers have five plus interviews. If you make it to a second interview, you need to find out what the next steps are.
One step closer to the finish line but it is definitely no indicator. I had to learn the hard way. I was day dreaming about my first day on the job when I landed my 2nd interview. It only made the rejection that more devastating.
If you get a second interview, your chances of getting hired are a heck of a lot better than if you never get called back.
I'm going to generalize that the first interview is to get rid of all the people who don't have a clue about the job but that are applying for every job opening. If you make the second interview, it means they think you can do the job and have entered the field where they try to pick the best person to fit the job.
How many interviews is going to depend upon how many qualified applicants they get and how closely they are qualified. Choosing between this person and that person if they are almost the same is difficult. Choosing between this person and that person if one of them is much better qualified doesn't take so long.
OP, remain pleasant and confident, even if you have to pull out all your acting skills. Best luck to you.
