Hard to argue with this. I never needed to smile my way into anything in my life. Usually hard work did the trick.

YES, send emails to each of the people who interviewed you thanking them for their time and giving you the opportunity to come in. You can add, "I'm even more interested in the position now that I've learned more, and hope to hear from you soon" if you feel comfortable saying that.

Okay, it's done now - eyes forward and keep looking so you don't drive yourself crazy!
Thank you! I elaborated to the fullest extent in answering their questions and with any comments they had about my qualifications. Having to look at a webcam is really hard for me, I actually would prefer face to face anytime of the day. With that being said, I consciously put in a smile when a joke was being said.

I'm definitely looking elsewhere, but this is one of the jobs that I'll truly feel bad for if I lose out on it. The fact that he said he enjoyed the interview is giving me some hope, and hopefully it was authentic and not something he tends to say to every single interview.

I was greeted by the person who interviewed me last time and I sat in a conference room and had the interview. The call lasted for about 50 minutes and there were 6 people. The director of marketing, 2 marketing supervisors, and 3 underlings. It was more of a traditional interview and was basically about me reiterating my ability to do the job, how my experience goes hand-in-hand with the position, etc.

Near the end he asked when I'd be able to start, and said he didn't know much about salary, and that there would be a background check, etc.

After answering my questions he said: "We'd like to hire as soon as possible, and we're going to speak with a couple of other people, and make a decision this week. I really enjoyed our interview."

The man came back to escort me out and asked how I did. I said: I think I did okay, they said they were still planning on speaking to a couple of other people. He then replied: "Yeah, we have a few people scheduled this week. Anyhow, I'll get back to you by Friday."

I'm not really sure how I did, but I think I've read somewhere that if you are told they are interviewing other people = a bad sign. In addition, I believe I was the first person to interview because during the conference call, the man who gave me the advice also had to introduce himself to the people on the other end.

Thanks everyone!

Sounds like you did well. You mentioned you asked about whether or not it was in person and they told you in person. I guess because there was one person who met with you in person first someone considered that in person? Well at least the idea that it would be Skype interview was put in your head prior to the interview.

I wouldn't weigh too heavily on what they said about other interviews, sounds like you have a good chance.

Only thing I found odd is his salary comments, how do you not know the salary, especially when he added they want to hire ASAP, well than you have a salary range in mind.

Good luck.

Boosane, you did tell them you could start right away, correct?

Thank you! I actually use this site quite frequently, the guidebook always comes in handy right before I interview.

Thank you for the confidence boost! I'm not sure, I definitely didn't mention anything about salary and I've only had one interviewer who once asked what my salary requirements were. If the marketing directory doesn't know what my salary would be, then maybe it's up to the local office's HR?

Definitely! I told them that I was available immediately and that I could even start today if needed by the company. I also took your advice and sent them thank you emails yesterday. Would've been nice if they replied back but that's rare it seems.

Great job! Rarely will you get a reply to a thank you email, but you shouldn't expect one. If you think of it this way - you send a thank you note out to someone for something - they don't respond to that, do they? No. Some may say thanks for the nice note, but in general, you don't get a response from any thank you note you send out. I think in my time I've gotten two responses to thank you notes following interviews. Nice to get, but not expected and doesn't indicate you'll get the job.

You'd much rather get a call with an offer. Let's hope for that instead.

Would the fact that the director told OP that he enjoyed the interview be a good indicator of a successful interview? Or is it simply a memorized script he tells virtually anyone he interviews?

That's a tough call, because it could be that the director said it to Boosane and a couple of others, or it's possible he just said it to Boosane. I do think it means Boosane had a good interview and will be considered further for the job.

Hayleyy, whatever happened with you? Did the recruiter ever get back to you? You haven't been around lately and I'm sure I'm not the only one wondering.

I've only sent one thank you letter before and never got an offer; so I honestly thought it was useless. But it seems to be a courtesy thing that everyone should take 5 minutes of their time doing, I guess it COULD sway opinions if there are 2 applicants that the company both likes .

I hope I'll get a good news call for once in my life, the man told me I should expect a call by Friday, but the wait is killing me and makes me wonder how the other candidates did on their interviews so far. Thank you!

I certainly hope it's the former.

I think I came across the site after googling a bunch of job search related questions. A very resourceful site!

I certainly hope it's a pretty good sign. Most of the interacting was with the director, and he did the facilitating as well, such as "hey Karl, why don't you answer this one for me, let's go around the room, how about you ask a question Jamie?" Hence, the supervisors were just watching me, listening to my answers and asking questions every once in a while, and I hope it wasn't because they simply weren't interested in what I had to say or had to offer.
