Good almost afternoon all. There is a job fair/instant interview type thing going on at an office in town today from 1PM-4PM. I am planning on going, but they want us to bring our resume. I do not have a printer, and the public libraries/college library are closed today Labor Day. Sooo I'm thinking of just handwriting my resume and bringing that. I have neat handwriting etc so it will be legible. I'm just planning on writing it on regular notebook paper. If you were conducting an event such as this and someone brought you a handwritten resume/CV, would it turn you off? Or would you be indifferent? Or, this is my hope lol, would you potentially remember this interviewee a bit easier than the rest since he did something a bit different?

Yes, it would turn me off. But do it anyway since you don't have a choice.

It would look hideous to bring a handwritten resume. Unless you found out this morning about the job fair, there is no excuse for this.

Make some phone calls to Staples, Office Depot, or friends and relatives to see if you can use one of their printers.

I did just find out about it this morning. Why does it look so bad?

Wow, this would be a huge turn off, and they would likely throw this in the trash! In this modern age there is no excuse for this. There has to be copy stores open, like Kinko's, Office max, Staples etc.... Or how about a friend or family member with a printer? By turning this in on notebook paper you giving a first impression as being outdated and not a problem solver.

It looks unprofessional and you would look like you're unprepared and don't care.

Is there anything open? Check with managers, whether they would print out your resume for you. Long shot, but who knows.
Handwritten resume may be a good thing actually, it is WAY different, but I agree a lot of people would ask questions, UNLESS you would present it as a feature instead of bug.
Another option may be handwritten business card or something similar.
Good luck.

It's like showing up at an interview in a t-shirt, shorts and flip flops. Your only business suit may be at the cleaners, but the interviewers won't care. Can you ask a friend or a neighbor to print out a few copies for you?

Okay, that's true. Would make me look like I'm not a problem solver and gave up just as quickly as I heard the 2 easiest places to print something weren't open. Good point. I will stop by my buddy's house before I go. I just thought it would be worth asking. :P Thought it might make me a bit more unique, but maybe not. It wouldn't look ghetto or anything I'd have it nice and neat and in a nice little folder to keep it flat etc. Dressed professionally. Speaking professionally.

Definitely a no-no. It looks lazy and unprofessional. I would take a trip to a friend's house or a relative to print it out on resume paper. Or go to your local school. There's no excuse for that.
