Well I am still applying. I have about 20 applications still active and just waiting for the call for an interview.

One problem, in some parts of the country there may be hundreds of applications for a job. Only one can be hired. Unless you are a perfect match for the job, then you will not get it. If you lack education (someone else has a more thorough education to fit the job), if you lack experience (someone else has more experience than you do), if you do not have the personality to fit in with existing workforce (someone else will be a better fit), and often a combination of these three.

Especially when people are looking and thinking I would like a job like that, but do not have exactly the education or experience for the job, and maybe 25 people are perfect matches, you will not get the job. The employers are not looking for someone that will take a long time learning the job, when they can get someone that can take it on tomorrow.

This is not always true. For my last 2 jobs I did not meet all the requirements or the preferred qualifications, but I went in and sold myself to the best of my abilities. On your next interview OP have the mind set of I am the best candidate and I'm going to show them why, if you are missing a requirement hit on all other points that are needed for the job. Even if you aren't the best fit, you need to make yourself appear that way in the interview.

Then you can be sure, that no one else perfectly met the requirements and qualifications for the job. However, you met the most important to the company, you interviewed well, and you got the job. That is how it works.

If you don't mind sharing, how did you go about selling yourself as the best fit. New grad here! Thanks.
