What? I don't know of ANYONE in my field of study who graduated with a 4.0, so no envy here.

I said you shouldn't use it as it's nigh irrelevant considering it was 10 years ago. What have you been doing the past 10 years? That's what you should put on there.

If you have a high GPA, your degree is with honors. That is, *** laude with or without a summa or magna in front of it.

You list the honors, not the specific GPA that got you the honors.

Edit: The part that got bleeped was the Latin for "with".

I dont think gpa matters on a resume. I have a 3.98 and 3.85 from both of my degrees and honestly never heard anyone during an interview go, "WOW! GREAT GPA! HAR HAR"

I think that it MIGHT have been relevant to put GPA on a resume for your first job out of college, especially if it was as an intern or in a very competitive market. But only if it was a top tier school and only if it was much better than 3.5 or whatever you posted. Harvard with a 4.0 is worthy and will make you stand out. But in any case, after 10 years it definitely should be gone. Nobody cares what you did 10 years ago, what have you done for your current employer is all I care about.

Unless it's at least 3.75, keep it off. No one EVER asked me for my GPA...they barely asked for my major! The fact that you graduated is enough and why ruin their good opinion of you with a mediocre GPA in a liberal arts major?

Employers don't care, especially 10 years after you graduated.

I agree, leave it off.**
Never been asked for mine. Only ONCE in 35 years was I even asked for a copy of the paper proving I graduated, period. But I am not a "high level professional" like Doctor or Dentist.
As far as PAYING for a 'resume service' fresh fresh?

There are plenty of employment agencies around any city that will let you speak to someone for the latest in resume writing. You shouldnt have to pay for it. GO to one. It will help to "bone up" your resume.

Only, I suspect, if you are a high level executive, should you engage a "head hunter" for employment connections, or a "resume writer"? Even then, IF you are high level exec, you should know how to write a resume without help. Maybe only to learn how to "update it".

ALWAYS, however, have another person read your resume for clerical, spelling and grammatical errors!

** remember, fully one half of all people graduated in the bottom half of their class!
