It's taken care of. I called the HR director this morning and told her I was pretty sure I wanted to accept. I told her about those 2 days. She said she'd check with the controller, who this position reports to. An hour later she got back to me and said no problem. So I accepted the offer.

? If not already done today (Monday), you're going to say, when accepting the offer, when you'll be off and why. Just say it, as part of your startup package. Not an ask, a statement. Everyone's then properly-informed and on the same page.
I work with a woman who takes off to fill her military obligations periodically, at Ft. Lewis and McChord, as in a few days per quarter (I think: not really counting, but can't help noticing). She offers no apologies for this, and arranges it with leadership. We, her peers, cover her portfolio in the interim. My pleasure, actually, since she'd do same for me and the other guys in our four person portion of the org.
My third week in my current job, transferring over, I took off for a motorcycle trip for a couple days over Memorial Day. I'd arranged coverage beforehand with my peers. In fact, the GM asked how it went after, and urged me to be careful prior. No one cared, per se, as long as my portfolio was covered and no surprises.
Granted, these are leadership positions with a tech major. Whether we are there or not, physically, is irrelevant as long as we're covered and available to the staff, clients, the team, and external partners. Our days are seldom if-ever dull or in any way boring. Probably a different expectation from most of corporate America.
Who cares? Don't offer to take anything "unpaid," that's living in fear. Ask HR on their policies and how pay-if-forward works on OOF time. I'm sure they have some thoughts, that's what they do. I've taken leaves of absences a couple times in my career, albeit short ones, and unless working for myself there were always ways to work within the system for at least partial compensation.
Congratulations, please send some of your good luck my waygoooood vibes goood vibes!!
