When I was screening candidates, I never cared if someone sounded or looked young. It was the potential they showed, through their positivity/attitude/demeanor and understanding of the job requirements.

I do understand ageism exists. Companies are losing out on qualified people on both ends of the spectrum.

As for a voice that doesn't seem to fit the bill, many people can change that. I didn't take voice lessons, but I did a version of it on my own. Listening to recordings of your voice during the process is a giant help. I also sang for a while, and I was terrible when I started. I was shocked when I started getting compliments.

There are a lot of moving parts required to get sounds out of your mouth. They're all adjustable.

At my current job, I replaced someone who was two years older than me so they don't mind my age or how I look. In the corporate world, I do wonder if looking/sounding young would become a detriment for someone at a high level. It could make people not take you seriously.

And yeah, when I am 50 perhaps I will appreciate looking 40 but that's a ways away.
Iv been told I look anywhere from 12 to 17 and I am almost 27 now. I do think it can impact higher level jobs, not so much entry level positions. I have always been more mature of a person which helped me to get and keep jobs though, still gives me a lack of self confidence somewhat.

lol I always say that theres no garentee when I am actualy old i will still look young. My luck will be someday i wake up and have aged twice my age.
