I have an Associate degree in Computer information technology, and 3 certificates. I currently have a helpdesk job that's all emails and chat, the job is not challenging and extremely boring and the pay is terrible. I am planning to tolerate it for a while for my work experience on my resume. I am wondering what's the next step? What's the next job I can apply for that's a step up in the computer IT field? I don't have a good programming background or network background. I understand I can only go so far with an associate degree without much experience, but I should be able to land a better job than the one I currently have in which no degree or a lot of experience is necessary to get since most of my coworkers have neither. I am not too crazy about the money, I am willing to settle for a salary range between 30k-40k. Any advice or suggestions would be appreciated

What is your pay? Work Schedule? do you get any benefits.
I think help desk is fun you make the best of it but after help desk is desktop support there are other help desk jobs that really challenge you and pay even more.
Remember everyone pays their dues.
There are other help desk jobs that are good but what is your career path in IT?

I got hired through a recruitment agency, there are no good benefits, we work federal holidays including Christmas, I only get paid $11.00 and work 3rd shift 40 hours a week. We're basically technical support for a website, which means we're not helping people with computers, only offer help regarding the product on the website and answer questions the customers have. .

So you see there's literally nothing appealing about this job. I am not sure what career path I want. I prefer something where we're assigned a project and we have to complete without having to deal with the customer directly. Something similar to the concept of program development where we're assigned a task for each member and have to complete on our. I also wouldn't mind system administrator or system analyst even though I don't know much about them.
