I am reading a lot of articles that say you shouldn't schedule an interview the day before a holiday weekend or after or late afternoon or right after lunch and things of that sort. For instance, I schedule my interview next Friday before the Labor Day weekend, does it really hurt your chances that much?
Your post basically says to interview in the morning. Think about it. It isn't very reasonable. I've sat on several panels, and it definitely didn't matter to us. If you are engaging, it won't matter when you interview.
Besides, almost every interview I've been on has been based on their schedule, not mine.
It doesn't matter. If the company didn't want to interview on the Friday before a holiday weekend, they would not do so. I have interviewed hundreds of people in time slots from first thing in the morning to right before we go home. The time slot has no bearing on the interview process or the likelihood of being offered a job.

Most of my interviews are limited to 10 or less people, and scheduled for two days. We start at 9-10am and go to about 4pm at the latest, with an hour break for lunch. There has been a lot of advice disbursed about the best time, with tales of interviewers dozing off, being hungry and not paying attention and the like. I can tell you from my many years as a hiring manager that we are not affected by the time of day. I will say that the best time to interview could be the afternoon on the last day, if you can determine that. The reason is that we always discuss the applicants and make a decision right after the last interview, so the later people are fresher in our minds. If the interview was not good, this also makes it worse for that candidate, but if you are good it could improve your chances. In my case, taking good notes means I can hopefully make a good decision regardless of when the person was interviewed.
