Hi All,

I have an interview tomorrow with a school, and I was just wondering how long it usually takes from the point of an interview to a job offer? Obviously, this is going to vary from job to job, but I was wondering what kind of wait times you have all experienced?

Has anyone been hired on the spot? if so, how long until you were able to start? Does 1-2 weeks sound reasonable, or is it usually like 2-3 days?

Anyone have any thoughts for a school setting?

"School" is a word with a pretty broad definition. Is this school a private kindergarten in an affluent suburb, an inner city high school with armed guards and metal detectors, or something else?

The time period of my offers have ranged from a couple of days to six months.

It is in a so so urban area. It is a middle school, and has no armed guards, etc.

I have an interview tomorrow, so was just curious when I might get an offer of I was selected.. But, like all jobs it can vary.

How fast do jobs usually want you to start if you're currently unemployed?

If it is a school district, I imagine there are HR/compliance hoops that the highering manager must jump through before offering anyone a job. It is not uncommon (IME) to start someone at the beginning of a pay period, but there is not hard and fast rule about it. My SIL was recently offered a job and she was told the start date was in four or five weeks.
