No it's a real text. I did check my google voice, but there is nothing there. And it wasn't a voicemail either.

I didn't get any text messages after I texted them to email me the job description. They mentioned the opening was in VMware which is an IT company. Am not sure how can I contact VMware to make sure if it is a legit. Looks like a spam to me now.

Was it VMware the IT company or the VMware product, which could be any company? Sounds suspicious.

Never heard of this from a legit employer. Probably a staffing firm or someone phishing.
