It's a part-time job that pays near minimum wage. Is a dress shirt with a tie minus the jacket sufficient?

No suit...I'd think it would be better to look "closer to the part" of security work. I'd wear khakis, nice shirt, and a jacket/blazer with decent shoes. That would be more than enough to show that you care but you wouldn't look silly and over-dressed.

Reminds me when I applied for a "Ticket Seller" (Park Permit seller) position with the parks dept in Hillsboro years ago. I had a nice set of slacks, pullover and good shoes. Got the job that day, the other guy being interviewed? He was in a 3 piece....Damn, looked way out of place.
