Guess I am showing my age here but these things get my goat! Have the time the site is messed up so you can't finish the application. Most of the time you don't find out the site is messed up until your over halfway done with the application. Makes things REALLY hard to find a job these days.

This in a rant.

i know this was a rant but have you considered taking a computer course? Online applications should not be difficult (while i will admit some are quite time consuming) - so it may just be that you could use a refresher?

I hate it because of the stupid personality tests. That doesn't even describe half my rage.

They should just get rid of them. I'm never getting a job that way.

Not sure it's my fault when the site acts up and you lose everything you put in.

I've noticed that some applications time out after a certain amount of time (i.e. 60 minutes).

While applying, I keep Microsoft Word open and copy all of the information that I have typed into the application. This, in it of itself, is somewhat time consuming. However, if the application times out, I can go back in and copy and paste the information, which saves some time.

It's still annoying to go back and do this, especially if there are a lot of sections that must be completed. Some of the applications also have a "Save" option at the bottom of the page. I have exited applications and have been able to go back in days later and complete the remaining sections and then submit it.

I'm guessing that the complexity of the process is meant to weed out those who are not that serious about the job. You'd be facing a lot more competition if people could just upload their resumes, which literally takes seconds to do.

I hate them too. I already know I can't sell a barn to a parrot.

Retail job applications are some of the worst. I was applying to a part-time opening at a retailer and not only did I have to go through the application and enter all my information, I also had to do the personality tests AND a simulation. Completely ridiculous.
