Last Thursday, I had an interview and the interviewer said someone would call me back for second interview. It's been a week. What should I do? My job search was looking good last week, but nothing has official came through! I had one opportunity that someone emailed me about. I went shadowing on Tuesday of this week, but I haven't got an email or call back about when I would be officially starting. Uh, I'm so confuse. For that job, I would like to email her back to see if the job is even mine. I don't know if the job shadowing was like some test to see if I was the right candidate or what. I'm tired of waiting and waiting for a simply entry level job

Was the office closed for Veteran's Day or hiring manager off for it?
If so, nothing is going to happen Wednesday or Thursday. (Thursday=recovery/backlog day in other areas).
Let today finish before getting concerned.

Thanks for responding. No, it's the hospitality industry, they were open on Veterans Day.

The GM and the full managerial staff likely was not there.
If the place was open and they were not, that points to an additionally busy Thursday. Ride today out and have faith.

Call around 4:30 if you want. Don't email.

If they want you, believe me, you'll get that call to come in for a second interview. No company will ever let a great candidate wait, because they don't want to lose them.

Yes. Don't screw up by calling them. It is unneeded, unwanted, and will be correctly viewed as insecure pestering.

If you don't hear from them in a few days, just write it off as not hired, which happens a lot to every job seeker.

If you like, you can take comfort in this. I once applied for a job that I thought I was well qualified for. I heard absolutely nothing for six months. Then out of the blue I got an acceptance letter with the "When can you start?" question. At no point in time was I interviewed.

Miracles do happen.

What kind of advice are you looking for? They didn't say they would call you back in a couple of days, did they? From a hiring perspective, a week is nothing.

Update:

I shot an email to the manager of the Restaraunt I went to shadow asking about an update on the job. She then proceeds to tell me they are not hiring for the position again. Jesus! She wasted my precious time leading me telling I'm great for the job and have potential for growth and even allowed me to shadow for a couple of hours. Wow. Things were looking up with all these interviews the week before last, but still nothing.

Wow! Well if that's how they are then maybe it is a good thing. Keep your head up!
