I do happen to have MS Office right now, but only a license for 1 computer, which means, for example, if I'm traveling, I won't be able to use it (it's not on my laptop). I also doubt I'll buy office again when MS Office 2013 is no longer compatible with whatever Windows version I'm on. When I bought it a few years ago, it was incredibly expensive. Over $250 I believe.

Like I said, they already indicated their desire to move forward, so .doc/x vs .pdf is a non-issue in this case. But it is interesting to see how many people just respond to the first post in a multi-page thread here and never pay attention to all the responses already written.
It's as secure as OneDrive, Microsoft's online file storage service (also free), which is to say it's not where I'd store my Top-Secret Plans For World Domination, however you do have to be signed into your MS Outlook account to access the files.

I am aware of your update; I just thought I'd pass on some potentially useful information to anyone that might benefit.

The same is true of Excel Online, incidentally.

just thought of an idea:
maybe they collaborate using a microsoft sharepoint site so anything not in a ms-office 2012 and above format is not shareable ?
i recently applied for something on angel.co. it wouldnt take my .odt upload so i save it as .pdf and it took it (i assume it wouldve taken it as a .doc).
