Hi, so I was laid off back in 2014. Since then worked low paying full time job's or high paying part time job's. Been searching within my company for full time gigs, but continous part time job's or full time job's being filled by people with more year's.

Trying to find per diem work, but nothing bites or too far away making it difficult to balance with current work schedule.

Been able to pick up over 40 hour's last 4 month's at work, but now back to 24 and it's a bummer.

I have - my employer does have full-time positions available, but it's mainly management/specialized/technical jobs, so it's hard to get in with something entry-level.

Get this, I can't find a job and I have almost 20 years of experience in my field AND I just graduated college (studying the same field I have experience in.)

Laid off last July, over 50 with a 2 yr degree in engineering. Ive been only seeking jobs in my field. Many resumes sent out and jobs applied to, including contract, temporary, and part time. 3 phone screens and one short interview so far, along with a few outright rejections. I think for most I was deleted as soon as they notice my age.

Yep. Nothing but part-time or contract work since 2009. No health insurance, can't afford Obamacare.
Gonna file for SS next year at 62. I still send resumes while working minimum wage retail. Ya never know...

Aren't degreed engineers in short supply? Maybe you need to get a BS degree in engineering? I agree that your age doesn't help, but a degree might help offset that.

Maybe you should get someone to proof your applications/resumes. I know that this is a forum, not formal writing, but your post is loaded with errors. Misplaced apostrophes especially. I am not sure if hiring managers for your field would notice them?

Remove whatever is on your resume that gives away your age. You want to impress with the resume. Form a positive first impression. By the time you walk into the interview, your age is not an issue.

Also, how good are your technical skills?

I use my phone here not big on grammar here. Use word and fiancé is a English major.

It's ridiculous my state cut $560 Million dollars to hospital's the field I work in causing hospital's in total to loose 600 job's.

Add in the ACA most hospital's can't hire full time worker's anymore.

Everyone I work with is mostly part time. Think out of 15 of us 3 are full time.

Could you do both? I did that my first year after college.

Part time (20 hours) for benefits then worked the other 20 as PRN for the higher rate.
