We get them occasionally around here, they don't usually pay per week or all that much. You do get to hang out, watch them make a movie, get fed and maybe see yourself on the big screen in the background at some point. I've heard that if you are asked to say something in the movie, then you can get into the Screen Actor's Guild and those folks get more acting jobs than just everyday folks. But, they don't film all that much in our particular area (even though this is Hawaii) so it's not a job that would pay rent or anything.

Yep that's how it worked for me .. I have been in 2 movies and was paid minimum wage and a LOT of (( 8-10 hrs a day and a nice free lunch..)) sitting in a crowded room with LOTS of people hoping to be the Next Movie Star.. ( Lots of whack job Moms pushing kids hard day after day) Regulars driving ALL OVER the entire Midwest and beyond.. Most of those I saw and talked with, were LOSERS.. I did it for fun I was retired .. No More... total waste of time for minimum wage.. Sorry for those who have to WORK for minimum wages that MUST SUCK!
Contagion was one movie forget the other's name.... that's how impressed I was..

When my daughter was 5, she was hired as an extra in The Hand That Rocks the Cradle, the psychological thriller starring Anabella Sciorra and Rebecca De Mornay. This was a professional casting call that we heard about through a friend and it was managed by a theatrical staffing agency, so these jobs really do exist. They pay next to nothing, but there are plenty of people who do this regularly and have actually built a sizeable resume and work frequently.

Since my daughter was so young, I needed to spend the day on set with her. This was a 12 hour gig, starting at 7 AM. The food was plentiful and the actors and technical staff were very friendly. It was so much fun watching the film being made, but it sure took a lot of the imagination out of movie watching for a while afterward. I kept remembering all of scene set-ups, multiple takes, artificial lighting, etc.

I know people who've done this, but I don't think the pay is that high....rather, they pay by the day (if you're needed), you need to have a portfolio, some sort of experience and desire. Central Casting

I wish I could do this. It'd be easy money and pay a lot more than my lame surveys. Plus the perks of getting to be in a movie/tv show maybe meet fav celebs while at the same time not being the center of attention. Win win being invisible yet recognized when it's important would be what I want out of life.

Thing is I have looked for this in my area and they rarely have anything. Then there is needing experience. Why do you need experience to stand in a crowd (for example)? You do that in your regular life for free. I do see it on Craigslist but I know that's scam central.
