Careerbuilder is by far the worst. I can't remember seeing anything but MLM type stuff on there in years.

Useful: Indeed

Useless:

1. Craigslist
2. CareerBuilder
3. Monster
4. TheLadders

Useful could also be job boards that tend to trget a particular field of work, so Dice for Technology jobs, Mediabistro for publishing and media type jobs etc...

The only jobs I have ever gotten were through Indeed.

I found another one that looks interesting, thought I'd share with fellow seekers. It does have a lot of volunteer positions, but there are paid ones and they seem genuine.

Volunteer, work, intern, organize, hire and connect. Change the world - idealist.org

Agree that Indeed is the best conventional one, but it still has the same limitation of only listing jobs that are listed, the unlisted ones are the ones we probably want.

Careerbuilder has gone completely down the drain since it first showed up on the scene. Nothing but spam jobs and junk email saying "your resume is getting views" when in reality it is only 1 hit. Have much better luck on LinkedIn, Indeed and local staffing agency sites

Indeed shows nothing but "Join the Army" ads, mixed with CDL jobs.

Everything sucks pretty much. There's was a point when it wasn't all crap but now every site is overrun with so much spam, fake postings, and recruiters looking for numbers to fill their quota that the best way to apply is directly through the company's website.

but how do you know what companies are hiring? that's the frustrating part. It takes too much time going to random company websites.
