This is the background – I was employed at a bank (XYC) for 5 years until I was laid off in 2014 – Itwas devastating but I got lucky enough with my reputations and track record, Iwas immediately hired by a competitor (B). However, a crisis happened in mypersonal life that I needed to quit the current job after only two months – I hadto stay home for a year with my daughter. Fast forward June 2015 –I got offereda job at a local bank and I took it immediately because I did not want to beunemployed any longer (During the time that I Was out of work, I was relying onmy husband salary)… With this new job, I have been successful so far, I’mmanaging a small branch in the city. Again, with a good reputation in bankingindustry (retail banking), I was told that there’s an opening in bank (H) and Iknow that the bank is large enough that I will gain the experience I need tothe next level of my career.
So I applied,- I was recently interviewed and given an offer. I accepted the offer – New jobprospect offers were better pay, excellent location, and awesome benefits- thewhole nine yard. It’s definitely way better altogether. However, they run mybackground check and discovered that I omitted Bank (B) -so investigator immediately asked me aboutit. I told her I did not think it was relevant since I only work there for ashort period of time. I still gave her the info that she needs. Then she saidthey’re requiring a letter from bank (B) stating that I left in good faith withbank letter head required. I called my former employer immediately but I wastold that they do not give those letter as per their policy and procedure, - allformer employees and prospective employer must go through their paid thirdparty for employment verification however their paid third party only provides salary, last held title and Dates of employment. So today, I sent a lengthy email (detailed)explaining the whole situation as to why I left and when. I have also provided amarket manager phone number so they can call (unfortunately, this marketmanager left the bank last year), and a colleague who can vouch for myreputation. In addition, I added the employee relations phone number if theywant to contact and told her that I have already contacted bank (B) HR department and basically the same answered I got was go to a third party. Basically, I triedevery avenue to no avail but most banks would not provide a written letter to anyoneregarding their former employee’s reason for leaving.
I’m just waiting for both the recruiter and the investigator sincethey emailed me this morning prior to my email- so I’m not sure if I still havea shot. They will probably rescind the offer. I hope not. I'm stress and I feel so sad about it. I really want thisjob. I had indicated that I have always taken great pride of my work ethics andit is true. It just that at one point in our life- something happens that wehad to take a setback – Hit a road block- it does not mean we are bad people.
