Small town can't get hired (2014, applying, interviews, jobs)

Hello all,

I live in a small town and having a lot of trouble finding a job. I'm 23 years old and been out of work for over a year. I've only had mostly seasonal jobs before hand and I think the gaps on my resume and the long period with no work history is hurting me. I've struggled with depression and anxiety for some time and finally last August after almost a year being off my last job(sept 2014) . I finally was directed where I could get help which is vocational rehab services. However that's been a very slow process and while I've had monthly or bimonthly meetings checking up on my situation and progress nothing has transpired. I work with a job coach every week searching for work applying for work to no avail....my town is of 13,000 people in southwest Wyoming to give you an idea.

Boring and I'm also very afraid to go to work fearing I can't make it through a day or have trouble functioning. Anyone else had trouble with small town economy?

I would consider moving yes but I am broke and am in no position to move right now.

What do you put on your resume for the time you weren't working? or if you don't, how are you explaining your gap of not working?

What kind of jobs are you applying for?

Yeah the gaps are tough, and in interviews they don't seem to ask or say much about it honestly...but I know it's a problem. Nothing really except some school at some points explains some but more recently I don't really have a explanation other than not having a job.

I'm applying for stuff like retail, fast food, postal, maintenance etc...all the run of the mill basic stuff.

If you are getting interviews, then most likely you aren't interviewing well enough.

Does the vocational center put on mock interviews to help? If so, have you participated in any?
