Anyone else living and looking for a job (Technology/18 yrs exp) in the SF bay area? I've been looking since late January and haven't received one job offer. I've had 5 phone interviews and 3 on-site and have been rejected. I've never had a problem in the past with finding work. What changed so drastically in the last 4-5 years?

I'm losing hope. This has taken a toll on my confidence level and mental wellness . I'm hoping to hear from others in the same boat (not necessarily in SF either).

Sorry it's been so challenging. Take a step back and realize whatever you are doing is not working--according to your own expectations. Try a different job search approach. Though I will say five months is not that long to be looking for a job. I don't live in SF however so I can't speak from direct experience in that regard.

Just curious, what are your skill set and how many have you applied to?

My friend spent over a year interviewing with startups of all kind (alot with the dumbest ideas) and got rejected from all of them. He only ended up with offers from govt and old mega-corp type jobs. Its seems alot of company basically have job openings not because they have an urgent need to fill a position but because they want to find their programming unicorn.
