Good evening everyone,

We are targeting three different states to relocate to. All our kids have flown the coop and being in our erly 50's, it's time to start a new chapter.

We have never moved from the area we grew up in. It's now time to try somewhere new as we are both under employed for here. I dispatch school buses and have my CDL Class B along with my college degree. Hubby was a concrete dispatcher for 21 years. He did a stink as a trans fill tech and now is working at Wally World.

We have never applied for jobs away from here. How should we go about it? We need to have something secured or we won't move. We are in good shape in terms of the house as we own it outright.

What steps should we do to go to in terms of applying in those states? Really unsure of what we need to be doing along the way for this.

depends on what state and metro you want to move to. There is no "one size fits all" advice on that; but in genreal- have a lot of money saved up for deposit and have at least one job secured before moving. Most will say to get a PO Box or similar set up in the state/metro you are looking at to put on your resume so you aren't viewed as an "out of towner" - which means you need to be able to pay your own travel expenses. Be prepared to have a speech of sorts ready for why you want to move to the area (and why you won't be a "flight risk" of leaving)
