I had posted Who Pays last couple weeks. The subject was who pays for the interview costs if far away. Should have made that clear.... 2 points off.

I did that and it created a nightmare for me. I worked 1/2 year in MA and 1/2 year in WA State. I accidentally used the wrong form and 4 years later the MA Tax Collector tried to dun me for YEARS of interests and penalties because I filed the wrong form and as a result, I would have owed an additional $28 dollars.

Stupid state!!

It is probably obvious but an integral part of the going up is the location satisfaction for the spouse. They brought this subject up to me.

I assume that we would pay for her costs of travel. What is the norm on rental care, meals assuming they direct bill the hotel and the airline.

Finally we plan to stay for a few days beyond the interview and I should probably tell them this so as to make flight reservations. In this case I assume I pay the extra costs associated with those days/nights.

Good luck! And wear a suit.

If they are paying it would typically include your airfare, hotel, rental car and some type of per diem or reimbursement for meals. It would not include any of your wife's expenses. And yes, you would pay for any extra days but you might be able to get them at their corporate rate if they have one. But you don't want to start off as looking greedy. So just ask them what their travel policy is and see what they say.

Thanks. I agree and would not push it. Dress is a funny thing, I think I'll go with navy blazer tie classic look but not overdressed. With a suit everyone starts saluting. lol.

Just curious.

If a company flies you up paying all expenses what % of those people get the offer?

depends on the company - but they're usually only flying in a handful of top candidates- usually 2-3 people is common in my field. Personally when i've been flown in i've always received an offer.
