As the title suggests I finally received a job offer today. The salary and benefits are good but it is in a very niche field and I worry that by accepting it I will be limiting myself. The work itself sounds okay but I'm not totally interested by it. I am in the running for another job where the work sounds way more interesting but they are still in the process of scheduling interviews so I won't have news on that front for a while. I'm presently employed on a contract so I have about another two months before it runs out. Any thoughts about what I should do?

Would you be okay with taking another contract position?

If I was unemployed and in need of work yes but I would rather not have to.

If you don't take the offered job, and the job you want falls through, will you be unemployed or not in a couple of months?

Yes. There will definitely be no renewal of my contract. I have been replacing someone on maternity leave and she is coming back.

Take the job, you can always leave/quit if something better comes along.
